MyBlogLog Woes
February 2nd, 2007 by Micah SchaefferI’m on the point of giving up with MyBlogLog.
Their site is slow and often unreachable. There are many times during the day that their widget causes this blog to load slowly.
The spammers have arrived in bulk, I guess they were frightened away from MySpace marketing by the recent lawsuits. I’m spending too much time deleting spam comments from my profile. Their spam reporting link just launches a blank email to be bugs at mybloglog.com. What a joke.
It just isn’t worth the aggravation for the little traffic it brings.
Rant over. I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

First off, are you counting traffic or subscribers / readers?
MyBlogLog only accounts for 7% of my traffic, but I work hard to make the most of all the traffic I receive.
My traffic numbers to my site haven’t increased much compared to pre-christmas, although it is slightly more sustained.
My subscriber count has gone up significantly over the same period.
Also you shouldn’t blame MyBlogLog for your slow loading page. You have the sidebar loading first before your content which is bad for multiple reasons.

I’m actually with Andy. I’ve not seen a huge jump in traffic - about 7% as well. But I have created some really nice relationships with other bloggers and have watched my feed subscriptions go up steadily since using MyBlogLog.

We’d appreciate it if you can stick with us while we iron out our growth. If not, we’ll miss you and do our best to earn your attention back.

Eric said they are working on the slow loading as they are working on database changes. It’s growing pains. It has exposed me to all kinds of interesting info and people and increased my traffic a lot. (Then again, I’m not in it for the money.)

So glad I found you before your impending departure from MyBlogLog. Great info here. I clicked on your name because I thought you might have been someone I know. You weren’t. Now you are. Nice to meet you. I’ve added you to my bloglines. :)
